Designing Antifa as terrorist, deploying defense for border control and the expansion of the burqa ban: the House of Representatives took on a series of striking motions on Thursday. But whether those plans are really implemented remains uncertain.
After the two -day debate about the Budget Memorandum, the MPs voted for the dozens of motions submitted late in the evening on Thursday in the evening. That resulted in some surprising results.
The outgoing cabinet had discouraged several plans because they are not feasible, for example. Yet a majority of the room agreed with a few of those plans.
For example, those motions were about labeling Antifa as a terrorist organization. FVD submitted that call and received support from SGP, VVD, BBB, JA21 and PVV. Those parties have now had a majority since former NSC MP Agnes Joseph switched to BBB and took her seat.
Outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof had previously discouraged the FVD motion, because according to the prime minister it is to the judge to regard an organization as terrorist. The cabinet must nevertheless consider the motion, but the chance is that it will not perform it. Schoof spoke on Friday afternoon at the weekly press conference of “a clear political signal from the House of Representatives”.
Moties are also campaigning with elections
On Thursday, the Chamber also adopted motions that you could say is purely about such a political signal. After all, the elections are approaching, so many parties are already in full campaign mode. That could also be seen in the debate about the Budget Memorandum itself. Moties are a good way to underline the ideals of a party.
For example, all parties who are against reducing the mortgage interest deduction voted for a motion that expresses “that the mortgage interest deduction is like a house”. With the support of PVV, VVD, NSC, BBB, SGP, JA21 and FVD, that motion received a majority. But it is a motion with which the room only proclaims an opinion, and so that motion remains without consequences.
Election time or not, Schoof indicated on Friday that a cabinet should always do something with the motions accepted by the Lower House. The cabinet will therefore look at all the assumed motions in the coming week, even if they initially rejected them.
If there are still compelling objections not to implement it, then the government can do that. The responsible minister must then give text and explanation to the room why her wish is not executed.
If a cabinet decides to carry out the motions adopted on Thursday, it is still unclear how that plan will be further elaborated and implemented. For example, outgoing defense minister David van Weel does not see it yet to use soldiers for extra border surveillance. He explains that in the video below.

Majority in ‘new’ room insecure
The elections can also seriously shake off the relationships in the Chamber, so there may be no majority for such a plan. That is, for example, the question with the extension of the burqa ban desired by VVD.
That motion received “judgment of the Chamber” from Schoof. That means that the government has no compelling objections to that plan. But to arrange such a burqa ban, there must be an amendment to the law. And the question is whether the “new” room also sees salvation in it.
That does not mean that all motions that were accepted on Thursday are now under discussion. Almost the entire room voted for the call from GroenLinks-PvdA, CU and NSC to speed up the emergency fund for households that have difficulty paying the energy bill. The cabinet had already indicated to put “everything in everything” to arrange that.
Designating Antifa as Terrorist, deploying Defense for Border Security, and Expanding the Burqa Ban: The House of Representatives Adopted A Series of Striking Motions on Thursday. But Whether these plans will actual be implemented remains uncertain.
After the Two-Day Debate on the Budget Memorandum, The Members of Parliament Voted Late on Thorsday Evening On The Deans of Motions Submitted. This resulted in some surprising outcomes.
The Outgoing Cabinet had advised Against Several Plans, because they are not feasible, for example. Yet a majority of the house voted in favor of a few of those plans.
For Example, Those Motions Concerned Designating Antifa As A Terrorist Organization. FvD submitted that call and recedived support from SGP, VVD, BBB, JA21, and PVV. Those Parties now have Exactly a Majority Since Former NSC Member of Parliament Agnes Joseph Switched to BBB and Tok Her Seat With Her.
Outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof Had PreviOutly advised Against the FvD Motion, because According to the Prime Minister, it is up to the court to designate an organization as terrorist. The Cabinet Still Has to Consider the Motion, But The Chance is that it will not implement it. Shove Spoke on Friday Afternoon at the Weekly Press Conference of “A Clear Political Signal From the House of Representatives.”
With Elections Approaching, Motions are also campaigning
The house also adopted motions on Thursday that you could say Purely About Such a Political Signal. After all, The Elections Are Approaching, So Many Parties Are Already in Full Campaign Mode. This was Already Visible in the Debate on the budget Memorandum itself. Motions are a good way to further emphasize the ideals of a party.
For Example, All Parties That Are Against Phasing Out MortGage Interest Relief Voted in Favor of a Motion States “That MortGage Interest Relief Stands Like A House.” That motion received a Majority with the support of PVV, VVD, NSC, BBB, SGP, JA21, and FVD. But it is a motion with which the house only expresses an opinion, and so that motion remains without consequences.
Election time or not, shoved indicated on Friday that a cabinet must always do something with the motions adopted by the house of representatives. The Cabinet Will Therefore look at all adopted motions in the coming week, even if it initially rejected them.
If there are Still Significant Objections to Not Implementing Them, then the Cabinet May Do So. The Responsible Minister must then explain to the house why its wish is not bee implemented.
If a cabinet decides to implement the motions adopted on thursday, it is still unclear how that plan will be further elaborated and implemented. For example, outgoing minister or defense David van Weel does not yet see himself deploying Soldiers for Extra Border Security. He explains this in the video below.

Majority in ‘New’ House Uncertain
The Elections Can also Significantly Shake Up the Relations In The House, So That May Soon No Longer Be A Majority for Such A Plan. That is, for example, The Question with the expansion of the burqa Ban Desired by VVD.
That motion recurred “Judgment house” from Schoof. That mean that the cabinet has no significant objections to that plan. But to regulate such a burqa ban, a legislative amendment must take place. And it is Questionable Whether the “New” House also Sees Merit in this.
That does not mean that all motions adopted on Thursday are now up for discussion. Almost the Entire House Voted in Favor of the Call from GroenLinks-PvdA, CU, and NSC to Speed Up the Filling of the Emergency Fund for Households That Have Difficulty Paying Their Energy Bills. The Cabinet had Already Indicated that it would “do everything” to arrange that.
