Around 5:00 PM on Friday, there are almost 700 kilometers of traffic jams. The ANWB reports that roadworks around Amsterdam on the southern side of the A10 are causing delays in particular. Motorists are also stuck in the center and south of the country.
It is the first evening of the announced road closures on the A10 South and East around the capital. This leads to many delays. It is also quite congested on the smaller N-roads.
“It will take some getting used to this situation,” an ANWB spokesperson told NU.nl. There are delays of half an hour and longer. The work will continue until July 12.
The A9 from Alkmaar to Diemen is also busy in both directions. An accident happened there earlier in the afternoon, but according to the spokesperson, motorists are also trying to avoid the A10 via this road. This causes a lot of extra travel time.
According to the spokesperson, it is also busy in the center and south of the country, but not much busier than during a normal Friday evening rush hour. However, there is often a standstill on the A27 from Utrecht to Breda.
