Ajax won a practice match against KV Mechelen on Saturday. Coach John Heitinga’s team was too strong for the Belgians with 3-2 after 120 minutes.
Ajax fell behind after twenty minutes with a goal from José Marsà. The Spaniard headed in from a corner. Shortly afterwards, Davy Klaassen equalized after Wout Weghorst had tipped in a cross from Owen Wijndal.
After the break, Heitinga sent eleven new players onto the field. New acquisition Raúl Moro, who joined from Real Valladolid earlier this week for 9.5 million euros, was also replaced.
The 1-1 remained on the scoreboard for a long time, until Anton Gaaei gave Ajax the lead in the 81st minute. The Dane shot beautifully into the left corner from about 20 meters.
A minute later, Oliver Edvardsen made it 3-1. The Norwegian scored after a combination with Don-Angelo Konadu. The KV Mechelen goalkeeper didn’t look very good. Shortly before time, Benito Raman did something back on behalf of KV Mechelen.
