Ajax has once again said goodbye to a reserve player on Friday. Left-back Borna Sosa has completed his transfer to Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old Sosa has signed a three-year contract with Crystal Palace. Ajax will reportedly receive a maximum amount of 4 million euros. Palace won the FA Cup last season and finished twelfth in the Premier League.
“There was no future for Borna in Amsterdam,” says technical director Alex Kroes on the Ajax website. “The fact that he can now continue his career at the highest level in England is of course wonderful.”
Sosa was signed by then Ajax director Sven Mislintat from VfB Stuttgart for 8 million euros in the summer of 2023. The defender did not flourish at the Amsterdam club.
The 26-time Croatian international was already loaned out to Torino by Ajax last season. In total, the wing-back played 25 games for the Amsterdam club.
