Hockey star Pien Sanders has confirmed that she has a relationship with Jill Roord. The football star of Orange was in the stands on Sunday when Sanders with Den Bosch reached the final of the national championship.
“I think it’s great that she’s there,” 26-year-old Sanders told Hockey.nl . “These are important competitions for me, so I appreciate it that she is aside.”
Roord and Sanders cannot often be present at each other’s matches, because Roord plays in England for Manchester City. “I have been in the stands a few times. That is great to experience. She has it nice when I am there.”
The 28-year-old Roord will also be a spectator at the Den Bosch final against SCHC next weekend. “I am really in love with Jill and we have a nice time together. And that is the story,” Sanders concluded.
Sanders had previously had a ten -year relationship with hockey player Thijs van Dam. Sanders put an end to that relationship in December. Both Sanders and Van Dam won Olympic gold with the Netherlands last summer.
Den Bosch is the reigning national champion. The team from Noord-Brabant was 3-2 too strong for SCHC last year. Since 1998 the title in women’s hockey has always gone to Den Bosch or Amsterdam.
