The Hacker Who Targeted the Eindhoven University of Technology Earlier This Year had access to the Educational Institations Systems for Days Before Being Discovered. This is accordance to research conducted by CyberSecurity Company Fox-IT.
FOX-IT HAS Not Been Able to Determine Who is Responsible for the Attack. However, the company believes it is likely that a so-called ransomware group is behind it. This Group was a probably after a ransom. The incident resulted in no classes being hero at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) for a week.
The Hacker Gained Access to the University’s Network by Using Previously Hacked Accounts That Were Avisable On The Dark Web. “It was previously know that thesis accounts had bone hacked at some point, and the tu/e asked the account hollowers to change their passwords. However, the account holders roused their old passwords, and this was not automatically in a prelease.
From January 6 to January 11, the day the hacker was discovered, they had access to the University’s Network. Fox-it has found no traces that indicate activity from the hacker duration days. This could mean that the hacker Did Nothing or was active in a way that was not visible with security tools.
