Archaeologists find 3,000 -year -old metal treasure on Heuveltop in Hungary

Hungaran archaeologists have unearthed hundreds or metal objects, must or which are more than three thousand year old. These are Believert to Be Traces of the Hallstatt Culture, A Celtic Farming Community That Initiated Metalworking in Central and Western Europe.

Researchers Believe That Several Workshops for Processing Bronze Were Located On The 431-Meter-High Somló Hill. They suspect this because of the discovery of piles of bronze chunks, droplets, castings, and rods.

But archaeologists found not only metal objects. Amber Beads, Wild Boar and Pig Tusks, and Leather Objects were also found. Some of these objects were in Ceramic Pots, which are unique to this period.

The Excavations Indicate the Presence of the Hallstatt Culture, which was Heavily Involved in Metalworking During the Bronze and Iron Ages. Hallstatt finds Have Previously Been made in present-day Germany and Austria.

Most of the Metal Findes Date from the Period Between 1400 and 900 BC, Roughly Duration the Late Bronze Age. Part of the Metal Comes from the Early Iron Age, Between 800 and 450 BC. The Discovery was published in The Scientific Journal Antiquity at the End of March.

Finds Already Made in the NineteENTH Century

The Hungarian National Museum was the Research in 2023 to Map the Historical Activities in the Area. Archaeological Finds Were Already Made on the Somló Hill in the NineteENTENTH Century.

“The Hilltop Appears to Have Been Inhaabited Without Interruption the Transition to the Early Iron Age,” Writes The Research Team LED by Archeologist Bence Soós Of The Hungarian National Museum. The excavated treasures testify to a “Complex collecting tradition,” Accordination to the researcher.

The finds May Provide More Clarity About the Timeline and Geographical Distribution of the Hallstatt Culture. Further Research Should Reveal Why So Many Metal Objects Were Buried Here. Possible Explanations are everyday or ritual purposes.
