Jackie Groenen played a negative leading role in her first Champions League match of the season on Wednesday. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder scored an own goal in the lost match against VfL Wolfsburg (4-0). Ella Peddemors was accurate for the Germans.
Groenen’s unfortunate moment in the Volkswagen Arena in Wolfsburg happened after just seven minutes. The controlling midfielder of the Dutch national team headed a corner kick from the home team behind her own keeper.
With her own goal, the thirty-year-old Groenen led to Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat. Just before half-time, Peddemors crowned a fine attack by Wolfsburg with the 2-0. For the attacker, who exchanged FC Twente for Wolfsburg in January, it was already the third match in a row in which she was accurate.

Dominique Janssen also started well in the Champions League with Manchester United, the English club won 1-0 against the Norwegian club Valerenga IF. Atlético Madrid won 6-0 against the Austrian St. Pölten. That was not enough for the leading position. That is for FC Barcelona, who won 7-1 against Bayern Munich.
