IF IT is up to the ministry of Defense, The Netherlands Will Become An Important Player in the Field of Drone Development and Production. A Large Test Area for Drones Will Soon BE OPENED OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH HOLLAND.
No later than the end of next year, an extensive area above the north sea must be opened for test flights with drones. The Province of South Holland and the Minces of Defense and Infrastructure and Water Management (I & W) Signed a Cooperation Agreement On Wednesday at the Former Valkenburg Naval Air Base Near Katwijk aan Zee.
The Test Area Above the North Sea Will Be The First Area In The Netherlands Where Drones Are Allowed To Fly Without The Pilot Having Direct Sight of Them. This makes flights about A Long Distance and Autonomous Flights Possible, For Example.
Organizations Involved Have Been Working for Years to Obtain Such A Test Area. There is Limited Space for this in the Netherlands. For Safety Reasons, it is UndeSirable to fly over People and Buildings, for Example. There must also be no other air traffic in the area.
Last year, the ministry of i & w already designated the area between katwijk and the port of Rotterdam as the preferred area for testing with so-called bvlos flights (Beyond Visual Line of Sight). The Drones Will Fly unmaned Valley, The Research Center for Sensor-Related Technology Located in Katwijk, a Few Kilometers From The North Sea.
Next step for the dutch drone industry
“If you learn to ride a bicycle, you first start at home in a quiet Street Before you enter the busy traffic,” Says Roel Brandt of Dutch Drone Delta, A Partnership of Dutch Organizations, Companions and Governments that industry of the DRONEMUSES NET ONCELSATING “You can compare this test area with the quiet street, to any lear how to use drones in busy areas.”
Accordance to State Secretary Gijs Tuinman of Defense, The Intention is that the Test Area Above the North Sea Will Have A Stimulating Effect on the Dutch Drone Industry. Several Dutch Companies, Including the Former VDL Car Factory in Born, Limburg, Have Already Started Producing Drones for Defense.
“In order to be less Dependent on Other Countries, Our Country Must Be Able To Develop, Build and Test Drones and Anti-Drone Systems Itself,” Says Gardener in Conversation with Nu.nl. “In Addition, The Netherlands Should, in My Opinion, Gain a Leading Position in the Global Drone Industry.”
“Drones have fundamental changed the battlefield. In Ukraine, we see everyy how crucial this technology is for our security. With this test area, we are investing in digital combat power and accelerating the development of drones and anti-dry, oures and anti-dry, oures and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry and anti-dry. Society Safer and Contributes Directly to the Freedom of Ukraine. “
The Test Area Above the North Sea Will Not Only Be Used by Defense. Other Parties can also test drones and applications there. Think of the Inspection of Wind Turbines at Sea, Securing Difficult-To-Reach Locations or Transporting Crucial Parts to Ships Off The Coast.
