Technical director Masanaga Kageyama of the Japanese Football Association has been convicted of viewing child pornography during a flight. Moreover, the football officer has been fired with immediate effect.
Kageyama was on his way to Chile for the World Cup under 20 when he was caught by stewardesses of the plane. He sat on his laptop in the business class to watch pornographic images and photos of children under the age of fifteen.
The crew raised the alarm at the police and the 58-year-old former professional football player was arrested during a stopover at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. He initially claimed to be an artist and claimed that the videos were generated by artificial intelligence.
During the hearing in court, Kageyama admitted that he had viewed the videos and images. He did not realize that viewing child pornography was illegal and told him that he was ashamed of his actions.
Kageyama was then sentenced to a conditional prison sentence of eighteen months and a fine of 5,000 euros. He is also included in the French register of sex offenders. He is also not allowed to work with minors for ten years. He is also not welcome in France for that period.
