Very conservative Takaichi probably Japanese first female prime minister

The Ruling Japanese Party, The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Elected the Very Conservative Sanae Takaichi as its Leader on Saturday. This makes it highly likely that she Will Become the Country’s First Female Prime Minister on October 15.

The LDP is the Largest Party in Parliament and Has Been in Power Almost Continuously Since World War II. However, it is not Certain that the 64-year-old Takaichi Will Become Prime Minister, as the Coalition LED by the LDP No Longer Has A Majority. She Must Therefore Find Support from Members of the Opposition. The Loss of the Majority was The Reason The Previous Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, Stepped Down.

Takaichi, a Former TV presenter, minister, and drummer in a heavy metal band, is on the conservative flank of her party. She is a great Admirer of Margaret Thatcher, Who was the first female prime minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990.

Other female politicians within the ldp Who Were Given (Limited) Ministerial Positions were of Excluded when they spoke out about about diversity and gender equality. Takaichi Chooses a Different Line and Adheres to the More Traditional View Preferred by Male Heavyweights Within the Party. She is a supporter of the conservative vision of Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who was Assassinated in 2022.

For Example, Takaichi Opposes Different Surnames for Married Couples and is Against Marriage for Same-Sex Partners. She also supports the strictly male imperial succession. She does state that shey hens to appoint more female ministers in her cabinet.

Takaichi also Advocates for a Stronger Defense, Higher Government Spending to Stimulate Economic Growth, and a Stricter Immigration Policy. She Calls the Current Coalition with the Buddhist Party “Crucial” But also Says She is open to Cooperation with Radical Right-Wing Parties.
