Six arrests in protests against and for asylum shelter in Amersfoort

The Police Have arrested Six People Turning Demonstrations for And Against Asylum Reception in Amersfoort. Hundreds of supporters and opponents had Gathered on the Stadhuisplein (City Hall Square) in the City.

On Tuesday Evening, there is a meeting in the city hall about asylum reception. Supporters and opponents were outside shouting directly at Each Other.

The People who are Against An Asylum Center in Amersfoort shouted slogans like “We are the Netherlands” and “AZC (Asylum Seeker Center) Get Rid of It”. They carried Dutch flags and prince’s flags. The latter flag is used by members or far-right grouts.

The Counter-demonstrators shouted, Among Other Things, “Refugees Welcome, Nazis Not”. There was also a sign that read: “More than 163,000 inhabitants and no room for 300 people on the run? Come on Amersfoorters, City with a Heart”. The Police Kept Both Camps Apart. An Officer was Slightly Injured and Had To Go To The Hospital for Treatment.

By 8:30 pm, The Stadhuisplein in Amersfoort was Empty Again. In Total, Six People Were Arrested, Including for Insult and Possession and Throwing Fireworks at Police Officers. It is not Known to which Groups The arrestees Belong.

Also demonstration Against Reception in Hoorn

In Hoorn, North Holland, demonstrators are also out on Tuesday Evening. Protesters Against A Possible Reception Location for Status Holders, Asylum Seekers and Ukrainians have thrown Eggs Against the Windows of the Town Hall. Inside, The City Council is Meeting About the Possible Reception.

About 100 to 150 demonstrators are in front of the town hall, reports press agency ANP . They have lit torches and chant slogans such as “azc, get rid of it” and “full is full”. The Police Are Monitoring The Situation And Have Started Talking to The Protesters.

The Council Meeting started at 6:30 pm with the public and is litigation in an orderly manner. Its Purpose is to Gauge the Wishes or Concerns of Citizens Regarding Such A reception location. The Hoorn City Council Will Not Decide on Tuesday Whether the Propose Locations Will Actual Be Designated As reception Locations.
