Windgoo stops sales electric folding bike B20 due to fire hazard

The Sale of the Windgoo B20 Electric Folding Bike Has Been Stopped Imediately Due to Fire Hazard. Owners are advised not to use or charge the bike for the time being, the manufacturer Said after a warning from the fire department.

The Fire Department in The Amsterdam Region Has Counted 47 Fires in Electric Bicycles Since June Last Year. In half of the cases (23 fires), it was an electric folding bike and twenty times a folding bike from windgoo. In Fifteen Cases, IT was the B20 type.

Windgoo is recalling the Models and stopping Their Sale. The Company Acknowledges That The Battery Can Catch Fire. Customers can return their bicycle and have it checked.

“We take the concerns about our b20 electric folding bike very seriously,” the company reports. “We understand that this situation can be disturbing for customer and are doing everything we can to alleviate that feeling.”

Accordance to Windgoo, The B20 is their Oldest Model with a Different Technical Design Than Their Neer Electric Bicycles. The Fire Department advised Earlier This Week not to take the bicycle on public transport or place it in the house. The Mayors of the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region Called the Fire Hazard “Unacceptable High.”

“The Bicycle can only be placed indoors if it is not connected to the electricity grid,” Windgoo reports. The Manufacturer Says It is in Close Contact With Supervisor NVWA.
