Visma-Lease A Bike

Visma-Lease a Bike and Four Other Women’s teams are in Danger of Losing Their World Tour License. The teams have a disagreement with the international cycling federation uci.

Visma-Lease A Bike, Team Picnic PostNL, Lidl-Trek, Canyon-Sram and EF Education-Oatly Were Disqualified by the UCI in August for the Tour of Romandie. The Teams Are Now Appealing Against This To The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The UCI Tested a Special GPS System in Romandie, W and W andRes the Location Data of One Rider per team was sent to the racing management and the medical teams. The Five teams refused to use the GPS System.

“In Addition to the Disqualissies, The Uci Has Referred the Teams to the Disciplinary Committee and Threateded to withdraw Their Licenses Through The UCI Licensing Committee,” The Five Cycling Teams Said in A Joint Statement. “The Appeal Requests Cas to Review the Uci’s Decision to Suspend Five Teams and Disqualify Thirty Riders.”

The Teams Supported the Test, But Felt That the Uci Should Take Responsibility for Selecting the Riders and Installing the Device. In Addition, the teams did not want to be responsible for the system in the event of accidents and did not want to select a rider themelves. The uci did not appreciate this.

Test Introduced after Death of Muriel Furrer at World Championships

The Cycling Union Introduced The Test After The Death of Muriel Furrer at Last Year’s World Cycling Championships in Switzerland. The Eighteen-Year-Old Swiss Woman was found to have Lying Unnoticed on the Side of the Road for An Hour After She Fell. The UCI Wants to Prevent A New Incident with the GPS System.

“It is Regrettable that Certain Teams Refuse to Jointly Protect the Safety of the Riders,” The Uci Said in August. “The UCI Condemns Their Refusal to Cooperation. The Uci’s Priority is to Guarantee the Safety of the Riders.”
