Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton let the Pirelli test on the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello pass by on Friday in order to be with his dog roscoe. The animal is in a coma.
Hamilton was initially planned with Ferrari colleague Charles Leclerc to test the tires for next year in Italy, but was replaced by Guanyu Zhou. With a message on Instagram, the seven -time world champion gave more clarity about his absence.
“Roscoe has again had a pneumonia and had trouble breathing,” Hamilton says about his four -legged friend. Roscoe, a British Bulldog, has traveled with the Brit to circuits around the world in recent years.
“Roscoe has been admitted and put asleep to keep him calm while they did research. During that process his heart stopped,” says Hamilton. “They have recovered his heartbeat and now he is in a coma.”
Hamilton does not yet know whether roscoe will awaken from the coma. “Tomorrow we will try to wake him up,” says the Ferrari driver in his message. He shares three photos together with Roscoe and promises to keep the followers informed.
For years, Roscoe was not the only dog on the side of Hamilton. Coco was also often present at the races. This pet died in 2020.
