Schiphol is Appealing The Court’s Ruling in the Summary Proceedings Against Extinction rebellion. Accordance to the airport, the access bans for activists are necessary for the safety of employees and travelers.
Earlier This Year, Schiphol Imposed Access Bans on 37 Activists From Extinction Rebellion (XR) After they demonstrated in the Secured Area of the Airport on March 8, or Attempted to Do So So. The Friends of XR Demanded that Schiphol Lift Them Foundation.
The Noord-Holland Court Ruled in favor of XR at the End of Last Month, because there was an “Impermissible restriction” of the right to demonstrate. Restriction is only allowed if there is a concrete security risk. But that was not the case then, The Court wrote.
Schiphol Disagrees and is now appealing. Accordance to the airport, actions in restricted and protected areas at the airport are dangerous.
“Unauthorized actions sacrifice room for abuse by malicious parties,” Says Schiphol. Accordance to the airport, only people who work at the airport or travelers should have access to these protected areas.
Shortly After the Judge Struck Down The Access Bans in August, XR Announced A New Action. The Action Group Will Demonstrate Again at Schiphol on October 24 Against KLM’s Flying Blue Savings Program.
