Angel Daleman focuses on Langebaantchaates: ‘Unfortunately kicked out of short track team’

Angel Daleman

Angel Daleman Has Abandoned Her Dream of Competing in The Olympic Games in Milan As Both A Short Track and Long Track Skater. Accordance to the eighteen-year-old talent, it is Becoming Too Difficult for Her to Combine the Two Sports.

Daleman repeatedly stated last year that her goal was to compete for medals in both disciplines at the 2026 Winter Olympics. “But it has a leg made easy for me,” Daleman Said on Wednesday at a Press Conference for Her Team Essent.

In April, Daleman Signed a full-time contract with Jac Orie’s Long Track Team. After that, the skater from Leiderdorp was no Longer Allowed to Be Part of the National Training Selection Short Track (NTS) or National Coach Niels Kerstholt Due to Legal Reasons, Accordance to the KNSB Skating Association.

Daleman was surprised by that decision. “I was Suddenly Called and Overhelmed by the news that I was no longer part of the nts. I didnn’t Make that choice myself,” Daleman Said. “I think it’s a shame that I’ve leg kicked out.”

Last year, Daleman was part of the nts, but she didnn’t Have a full-time contract with a long track team yet. Because She was a still Seventeen years old, she was not allowed to sign a professional contract and was an intern at Team Essent.

“I would have loved to be part of the nts again this year, but I wanted one head coach, and that was an option for the association,” Said Daleman, who felt like a puppet last year balh bothy Christmas holt and orie had something.

Daleman Trains with Short Track Team

Partly Due to the Association’s Decision, Daleman’s Focus is No Longer On The Double in Milan. “That’s really with pain in my heart. It was Something I Really Wanted. But at the same time, I can already be happy if I qualify for the games at all.”

It is not surprising that Daleman Chooses Long Track Skating Instead of Short Track. In Long Track, She Broke through Last Season and Became World Champion in the Team Sprint Together with Jutta Leerdam and Suzanne Schulting. In short track, she is not yet at the world top.

If she does not qualify for the games at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (Oct) Long Track in December, She Still Wants To Try It in Short Track. Althegh that will not be easy.

Therefore, Daleman does not complete rule out the plan B. She trains weekly with the short track selection, which is allowed by the KNSB. “I also do that because I Enjoy it very much. I still feel good there.”

Last weekend, Daleman was also present at the Dutch Open Short Track in Heerenveen. “That was a bit strange. But when I’m there, it also gives me peace of mind that I’ve made a choice.” Laughing: “Next season I can experiment and learn again. The games are actual a year too early for me.”
