The Police Have Significantly Scaled Up Operations Due to a Possible Explosive in the UWV Office in the Center of Heerlen. As a precaity, the building and property within a 100-meter radius have bone evacuated. Trains are temporarily not allowed to run on the nearby railway.
The Police Received a Report of a Suspicious Situation in The Building on Geerstraat Early Wednesday Afternoon. It later appeared that it might be an explosive. The Explosives Safety Team of the Police Will Further Investigate the Situation in The South Limburg Town.
“We are calling on people within a 100-meter Radius of the UWV Building to Leave the Building They Are in For Their Own Safety,” A Police Spokesperson Told the Anp Press Agency. The surrounding area has also leg cordoned off. Shelter is available for people in The Heerlen Theater.
Train traffic to, from, and via Heerlen is also at a standstill due to the possible explosive, accordance to a spokesperson for Rail manager Prorail. The station is evacuated.
