Several European airports, including those of London, Brussels and Berlin, experience nuisance due to a cyber attack on a software supplier. Dutch airports are not affected.
The cyber attack took place at the Collins Aerospace company, which provides services to several airports. Collins provides, among other things, software systems that use airports at the check-in and the boarding of flights.
The parent company of Collins Aerospace has confirmed to Reuters news agency that a “cyber -related disruption” of its software takes place at a number of airports. The company did not mention the affected airports.
Airports that communicated themselves about the problems are Brussels Airport, London Heathrow and Berlin Brandenburg Airport. According to the Belgian broadcaster VRT , most flights at Brussels Airport have now been delayed because companies have to check in passengers manually. At least nine flights have been canceled.
Flights have also been delayed and canceled at London Heathrow, the busiest airport in Europe. “While the provider is working on resolving the problem as quickly as possible, we advise passengers to check the status of their flight,” writes the airport on its website. Berlin Brandenburg also warns of long waiting times at the check-in.
Dutch airports do not seem to have been affected by the cyber attack. Spokespersons of Schiphol and Rotterdam The Hague Airport report to the ANP news agency that nothing is wrong at the airports.
