The NPO Wants To Scrap BVN (Best of NPO), The Public TV Channel for Dutch People Abroad. The Public Broadcaster Announced this on Thursday.
The NPO also Wants to Discontinue NPO Campus Radio (The Breeding Ground for New Radio Talents), NPO Soul & Jazz, and NPO 2 extra. This is state in the Application that the NPO Submitted to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science on Thursday.
“We are making thesis choices with a heavy heart,” Says NPO Chairman Lucien Brouwer. “We realize that this has an impact on our employes, the makers and the public. Yet we must take responsibility and this is the next step Towards a Future-proof order.”
“We are preparing for a structural cutback from 2027 and are working towards a new order, in which Broadcasters are clustered in Broadcasting Houses,” Brouwer Continues. “This sacrifices opportunities to make the order more effective and efficient.”
The Intention is that the programs that can now be heard and seen on BVN and NPO Soul & Jazz Will Move to NPO Start. “The range of NPO programs without geographical restrictions can also be seen from Abroad on NPO starts,” A Spokesperson Said.
Accordance to the npo, the soul and jazz genres will get more space on the npo blend channel. Accordance to the public broadcaster, more space will be reserved for new radio makers on the 3FM and FunX channels. In Addition to Scrapping the Aforementioned Supply Channels, The NPO Will also Scrap “Around Eighty Full-time Jobs”.
