Bas van Toor Celebrates His Ninetieth Birthday Today. His Brother Aad van Toor is there to celebrate the special day with him. “It’s an incredible Beautiful Age. So we definitely take a moment to reflect on that,” aad tells nu.nl.
Celebrating Birthdays isn’t Really in The Brothers’ System, Better Known as the duo Bassie and Adriaan. “In the time we worked, it was Seven Days a Week and Twelve Hours a day. Making time for a birthday didn’t exist,” Says the 83-year-old aad. “But we didn’t mind.”
Nowadays, Bas and Aad Do Have Time to Celebrate Their Birthdays, But The Two Remain Sober About It. “If things don’t go as we want to use gets in the way, that’s fine too. We both really live in the now.”
That making plans is no longer a matter of course has Everything to Do with Bas’s Health. The Famous Children’s Friend Ended Up in A Wheelchair Nine Years Ago after An Operation on His carotid Artery. A cardiac judgment and stroke resulted in paralysis. Since then, he can only move one hand.
“On the one hand, it’s great that bass can reach this age. On the other hand, it’s a shame that it’s this way,” Says aad. “Heynsn’t Have the Most Fun Life.” Yet Bas Can Still Enjoy himself, Such As Earlier This Month At The Presentation of A Special Commemorative Coin. The Brothers Received It For Fifty Years of Presence on Television. “Hey Enjoyed That Very Much,” Says the Former Acrobat, Who is surprised that bassie and Adriaan Are Still So Popular and Loved So Many Years later.
‘Our names are inextricable linked’
Aad Has Great Admiration for his Older Brother: “It’s the Enthusiasm he has Always had. Going for Everything 100 percent. At some Point You Reach An Age Where That Is No Longer Possible. But He Still does what hey People.”
For decades, the two spent time with each other every day and as a results they have a close bond. “It is Difficult to Express Our Bond in Words. It is very special. Just look at our names: they are inextricy linked,” Explains Aad. The Brothers Were also “Very Good Friends” in Addition to Colleagues. “We saw each other every day for years, until we had our own families. But just then we spoke to each mind daily by telephone.”
Bas and Aad, who himself was treated for cancer years ago, are positive about life despite all the setbacks. “We get every of it that we can: time with our family and friends, meeting nice people and Doing Fun Things from time to time,” Says aad, who will leave for spain for about five week after bass Birthday, where he’s stays part of the year.
