Lieke Klaver did not qualify for the world championships final of the 400 meters in Tokyo on Tuesday. The North Hollander Finished Fourth in Her Series After a Disappointing Race, after which Sydney McLaughlin-Levrine was particularly fast.
The 27-year-old Klaver Clocked a moderate time of 50.25. She was 0.38 Seconds Short of Going Through to the Final As One of the Two Fastest Times.
McLaughlin-Levrone Went to the Final With A Top Time of 48.29 As the Fastest, which is Scheduled for Thursday. The American Top Favorite was very fast, While She equally hero back on the last part to save energy for the final battle. Only Six Women Have ever Been Faster.
It is certainly not excluded that the 26-year-old McLaughlin Will Be the Third Woman Ever To Run Under 48 Seconds in the Final. The last athlete to do so was East German Marita Koch (47.60) in 1985. That is still the world record. There is a suspicion of doping around that record time.
McLaughlin Can Become World Champion for the first time in Tokyo in the 400 meters, after She Mainly Competed in the 400 meters Hurdles in recent years. She was Always Faster than Femke Bol in that event and holds the world record with 50.37. Now that McLaughlin Has Chosen the 400 meters, the road to the world title in the 400 meters Hurdles is open for Bol in Tokyo.
‘It Just Didn’t Work Today’
Klaver would have loved to run the final of the 400 meters in Tokyo, eSpeciate now that it could be a very special final battle with the fast mclaughlin.
Klaver had No Clear Explanation for Her modern semi-final. “It Just Didn’t Work Today. I Havenp’t Peaked This Entire Season,” She Said. “I Feel the Fire, But the Sharpness was there.”
At the Past Two World Championships in Budapest (2023) and Eugene (2022), Klaver Did Reach the Final, With a Fourth Place in the Hungarian Capital as a Highlight. At the Olympic Games in Paris Last Year, She Stranded in The Semi-Finals.
Earlier This World Cup, Klaver, Together with Bol, Eugene Omalla and Jonas Phijffers, won Silver in the Mixed Relay. She will be back in action in the relay next weekend. But It is Still Unclear Whether that will be in the 4×400 meters or the 4×100 meters.
