Four Amsterdam branches of the Pizzabakkers have been closed for six months by order of the municipality. The pizza chain has been startled several times lately by explosions. The buildings are closed because the police do not exclude new explosions.
Deputy mayor Marjolein Moorman made the decision on Friday. “The buildings have been the target of attacks several times and there is a fear of an attack on the building on the Haarlemmerdijk,” the municipality of Amsterdam reports.
It concerns two branches on the Kerklaan plantation, a branch on the Overtoom and one on the Haarlemmerdijk. No one is allowed to enter the buildings during the closure. The purpose of the closure is to “put an end to the situation that is contrary to public order”.
Since the end of August there were three explosions on the Kerklaan plantation, two of which are at locations of the pizza bakers. There was also an explosion at a sandwich shop. In addition, an explosive was found in the street last week. In that case, the police arrested a fourteen -year -old boy.
In the night from Thursday to Friday there was an explosion at a catering ground on the Overtoom. According to AT5 it was a branch of the pizza chain.
