National coach Ralf Rangnick van Austria hissed up on Tuesday evening around the World Cup qualifying match with Bosnia and Herzegovina by driving on an e-bike across the field. The trainer says he still had too much problems with an ankle injury.
Both prior to the game and during the break, the 67-year-old Rangnick moved on the e-bike. The German looked up to the long distances in the stadium and saw this vehicle as a good solution.
Rangnick underwent an operation on its ankle this summer. The former trainer of Manchester United and RB Leipzig got an inflammation in his ankle, after which he had to go under the knife again. He must avoid long walks in the coming period.
“Walking would have been too far for me,” Rangnick told the Austrian ORF on his rides on the vehicle on Tuesday. “My ankle is not working well yet. I am slowly making progression in my recovery, but it can be faster in my opinion.”
Rangnick used to use a golf cart to move, but due to the lack of space in the stadium in Zenica, he had to look for an alternative. “The distances here are simply too big. I really didn’t go on walking.”
Austria won the game with 1-2, so that the team does good business in group H of the World Cup qualification. The Rangnick team is on the same level with leader Bosnia and Herzegovina, but has played a match less.
