A Teacher at the Utrecht Circus School Diedom HAS Systematically Engaged in Sexual Transgressive Behavior Towards “Teenage Girls.” The School Has Informed the Parents of Students of This. The Teacher is No Longer Teaching.
The Transgressive Behavior Allegedly Tok Place Between 2010 and 2020. In 2024, Students Reported This To The Board. The Board Suspended the Teacher in December of Last Year and Commissioned the Bureau Partners in Integrity to Conduct An Investigation. The board does not want to say how many reports there are.
Accordance to the reporters, The Teacher was guilty of, Among Other Things, Unwanted Touching, inappropriate Remarks, and InappRopriate contact via social media. Accordance to Diedom, “The Relationship of Dependency between Student and Teacher Has Been Seriously Damaged on Several Occasions.”
Diedom Cannot Say Why The Reports Were Only Made Last Year. “That is up to the reporters, they have their own reasons for that,” Says eefje nienhuis, a board member of Diedom Since 2025, to nu.nl. “But it is clear that we have missed signals.”
After the reports, The Board Initiated A Culture Survey, Says Nienhuis. With This, the Organization Wants To “Keep its finger on the pulse” with the students. The School Has also Adjusted the Code of Conduct and Appointed An External Confidential Advisor.
‘Difficult for Other Teachers’
Besides Being “Terrible” for the reporters, Nienhuis Says It is also a Bad Outcome for the Other Teachers. “Especialally for the male ones. They also because parents to trust them and not be looked at strangely. And we practice a contact sport where you have to touch each other.”
Nienhuis Says That Colleagues Are In Contact With The Reporters. She Cannot Say Whether A Report Has Been Filed Against the Teacher. Diedom is in contact with the police but cannot file a report itself.
