In a landslide in western Sudan, on Sunday, according to Rebel movement Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A), more than a thousand people were killed. That information is difficult to check because journalists can hardly enter the area.
The landslide is said to have destroyed a complete village in the Marra Mountains in Darfur. Only one resident would have survived that. According to the movement, the village was razed to the ground.
The rebel group, which operates in the mountains, says it has appealed to the United Nations and international aid organizations to come and help with the storage of bodies.
