Sjors Ultee

Top Oss coach Sjors Ultee could not hurt his anger on Friday evening after the 0-3 defeat against FC Dordrecht. The trainer thought that his team earned a penalty, but did not get it. Afterwards he lashed out at the arbitration and the KNVB.

The match between Top Oss and FC Dordrecht got completely out of hand in the final phase. In the run-up to the second goal of FC Dordrecht, Top Oss striker Luciano Slagveer was taken down in the penalty area, but referee Richard Martens decided not to give a penalty.

The decision led to anger among the players and the technical staff of Top Oss. Ultee, too, could not restrain itself, after which the arbitration decided to stop the game temporarily. Afterwards, Ultee was still furious.

“I better say nothing about that man,” Ultee said afterwards about the referee. “If I say just one sentence, I am suspended or have to come to Zeist on my free evening. In the Netherlands there is a culture in which the KNVB trainers wants to take on words about referees. Freedom of expression is not allowed.”

The 38-year-old Ultee added a little extra. “Three red cards should have been given and a penalty. Nick Venema (player of FC Dordrecht) just gives someone a blow. If I have to do with you, you will get nice television,” Ultee told the ESPN reporter. “We all make mistakes, but I have never experienced this.”

“I am not going to say that we are losing the arbitration, because then I also have to go to Zeist,” Ultee continued, who then continued with his tirade. “I do not wish that man the pleasure that he will also sew a suspension to me. Step into our shoes, then you will feel so extremely sewn. I have never experienced this in three hundred games. I would prefer to go completely loose now, but you will not win anything with that.”
