Spain was struggling with the warmest heat wave ever measured: 'Come more extreme summers'

The Spanish Heatwave that last sixteen days was, Accordination to Weather Station Aemet, “The most intense ever Measured.” The August Heatwave caused wildfires that are still plaguing parts of northern and western spain.

Preliminary Measurements from August 3 to 18 Exceed the Last Heatwave Record Set in July 2022. The Temperature Turning That Period was 4.6 Degrees Higher than Average.

Accordance to Aemet, The Warmest Ten Consecutive Days Were also Measured in August, Between August 8 and 17. These would be the Warmest Ten Consecutive Days Since at Least 1950.

Aemet Started Measurements in 1975. Since then, 77 Heatwaves Have Been recorded in Spain. In Six of Those Heatwaves, The Temperature was 4 Degrees or More Higher than Average. Five of Those Heatwaves Have Been Measured Since 2019.

Scientists have long argued that the climate crisis is causing longer and more intense heatwaves worldwide that also occur more frequently. Aemet also writes that it is a scientific fact that summers are now hotter than in previous decades. “Every Summer will not always be hotter than the last, but there is a clear trend Towards much more extreme summers.”
