Outgoing Prime Minister Dick Schoof called on Saturday with President Volodyymyr Zensky to express his support to Ukraine. Schoof would actually travel to Kyiv to speak to Zensky personally, but said that visit because of crisis in the outgoing cabinet.

“Because of the political current affairs in my own country, I unfortunately do not have the opportunity to be in Kyiv today,” Schoof reports on X. He would be in Ukraine on Saturday and Sunday. But that was canceled because Coalition party NSC withdrew from his outgoing cabinet on Friday.

The prime minister writes that he spoke with Zensky about the state of affairs a week after the two peaks in the United States. In Alaska, US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A few days later, Zensky and a European top delegation traveled to the White House.

Schoof says that the ball is for peace at Putin and that he “comes” as quickly as possible “to the negotiating table. The Ukrainian president also emphasizes the importance of security guarantees. They are currently being worked out by Ukraine, the United States and Europe. Zensky says that there will be more to report in the “coming days”.

Finally, Selensky discussed “joint projects and investments” with regard to the Ukrainian defense industry. “We prepare important agreements, just like a visit in the near future,” says Zensky.
