Green light for controversial Israeli building plan: 'Wings Palestinian state off the table'

Israel has given the green light for a very controversial building plan on the Westelijke Jordoever occupied by Israel. According to the plan, settlements will pass through land where the Palestinians pursue a state.

It is about the so-called E1 plan. Israel has been working on it since the 1990s. But under pressure from the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, the country always pushed the plan on the long track.

The project would make the viability of a Palestinian state impossible, as part of the two -state solution. That is because East Jerusalem is the intended capital of the Palestinian state. With this plan it would be almost completely surrounded by Israeli buildings.

E1 divides the occupied West Bank into two parts. Between East Jerusalem, which is occupied Palestinian territory according to international law, and the Jewish settlement Ma’ale Adumim must be built around 3,400 new homes. In addition, East Jerusalem is more or less cut off by the plan from the occupied West Bank.

The controversial building plan is internationally seen as a ‘death blow’ for the Palestinian state. The extreme right -wing Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich did not wound that. “With E1 we finally make where what has been promised for years,” he said in a statement. “The Palestinian state is swept off the table. Not with slogans, but with actions.”

The preparation of E1 can start within a few months, thinks the Israeli peace organization Peace Now.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the announcement of the plan. The Ministry states that E1 isolates the Palestinians in the area and undermines the possibility of a two -state solution.

Outgoing foreign minister Caspar Veldkamp has also convicted E1’s approval. According to Veldkamp, the plan is “a clear violation of international law”. The Netherlands supports a two -state solution and is therefore against the controversial plan. “We call on Israel not to take further steps that undermine this solution,” writes Veldkamp on X.

In recent years, Israel has increasingly turned away from the so -called two -state solution for the lingering conflict with the Palestinians. This two -state solution provides for the distribution of the country between Israel and a Palestinian state. The latter should include the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Settlers are getting more and more room from the last right -wing Israeli governments to cultivate parts of the West Bank. Those settlements are illegal according to international law, the International Court of Appeal ruled last year. The UN ruled earlier that the settlements are illegal.

Israel Has Given the Green Light for a highly controversial construction plan in the Israeli-OCCUPIED West Bank. Accordance to the plan, SettlementS will be Built Right Through Land Where the Palestinians Are Striving for a State.

This groups the so-called e1 plan. Israel Has Been Working on Since the 1990S. But Under Pressure from the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, The Country Repeatedly Postponed the Plan.

The project would make the viability of a Palestinian State, As Part of the Two-State Solution, Impossible. This is because East Jerusalem is the intended capital of the Palestinian State. With this plan, it would be Almost Entirely surrounded by Israeli Buildings.

Approximately 3,400 New Homes Are To Be Built Between East Jerusalem, which Under International Law is Occupied Palestinian Territory, and the Jewish Settlement of Ma’ale Adumim. In Addition, The Plan More or Less Cuts Off East Jerusalem from the Occupied West Bank.

The Controversial Construction Plan is Internationale Seen As A ‘Death Blow’ to the Palestinian State. The Far-Right Israeli Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich was also blunt about this. “With E1, we are finally making what has been promised for years come true,” he said in a statement. “The Palestinian State is Being Removed From The Table. Not with Slogans, But With Deeds.”

Making E1 Ready for Construction Could Start Within A Few Months, Accordance to the Israeli Peace Organization Peace Now.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemned the Announcement of the Plan. The Ministry States That E1 Isolates The Palestinians in the Area and Undermines The Possibility of a Two-State Solution.

Accordance to Veldkamp, the plan is “A Clear Violation of International Law.” The Netherlands Supports A Two-State Solution and is Therefore Against the Controversial Plan. “We call on Israel Not to Take Any Further Steps That Undermine This Solution,” Veldkamp Writes On X.

In recent years, Israel Has Increasingly Turned Away from the so-called two-state solution to the Protracted Conflict with the Palestinians. That two-state solution provides for the division of the land between Israel and a Palestinian State. The Letter would have to include the Gaza Strip, The West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Settlers Are Increasingly Given More Space by the latest Right-Wing Israeli Governments to Build on Parts of the West Bank. These Settlements are illegal Under International Law, The International Court of Justice Ruled Last Year. The Un had PreviOutly Ruled that the Settlement’s Were Illegal.
