Max Poole Will not start in The Vuelta a EspaƱa on Saturday, his Dutch Team Picnic PostNL Announced on Wednesday. The 22-year-old Brit Has Contracted the Epstein-Barr Virus. He was the team’s intended leader.

Poole had Been Feeling Less Than Optimal for Some Time, After Finishing Elevth in the General Classification in the Giro d’Italia.

“We Have Been Investigating The Possible Causes of Max’s Health Problems in recent weeks,” Says Team Doctor Camiel Aldershof. “Today we recedived confirmation that he has the epstein-bar virus, resulting in glandular fever. Unfortunately, this mean he will need a longer period or rest while we work on his full recovery.”

Poole is disappointed to miss the vuelta, but he is also slippery that is now clarity. “It’s Been Difficult Week Tryping to Understand What Was Going On,” Says the Brit.

“I’m relieved that the cause is now clear, because that mean start focusing on my recovery and getting my health back on track.”
