Douwe Bob has filed summary proceedings against VVD leader Dilan Yesilgöz. The 32-year-old singer demands that the politician remove a video in which she accuses him of Jew-hatred. He also demands a retraction.
Douwe Bob’s lawyers announced via a press release that Yesilgöz continues to refuse to withdraw the video despite “repeated requests.” Therefore, the artist now feels “forced” to enforce this through the courts. They also report that the singer quietly filed a report in early July for defamation, slander, and insult.
“It is of course absurd that the judge has to be involved,” says Douwe Bob’s management. “The fact that Yesilgöz, as a prominent politician, continues to stand behind her message is improper and incomprehensible. Let’s especially not let this become normal.”
Yesilgöz posted the video below on X after Douwe Bob canceled a performance at a Jewish children’s soccer event in Amsterdam at the last minute last June.
According to the singer, Yesilgöz’s accusation was “unfounded and excessive” and incited public aversion. Douwe Bob had previously reported that he had been seriously threatened as a result of the incident.
