The fire in the center of Heerenveen is under control, according to the fire department. They are still working on extinguishing the remaining embers. According to a spokesperson, there were no casualties.
The fire on Heideburen broke out around 4:30 AM between Tuesday and Wednesday night. The road is located on the edge of the city center of Heerenveen, right next to a residential area. The area is densely built and difficult to access, says a spokesperson for the Veiligheidsregio Fryslân to NU.nl.
Firefighters are doing everything they can to prevent further spread of the fire.
