Russia and Ukraine have increasingly attacked each other’s railways in recent days. On the night of Monday to Tuesday, Russian drones attacked the train station in Lozova, Ukraine. One person was killed.
In the attack on Lozova, a railway worker was killed. Ten others were injured.
The mayor of Lozova called the attack the heaviest since the outbreak of the war. The city is about 90 kilometers from the front in eastern Ukraine.
Russia reported an attack on the Tatsinskaya train station, about 95 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. Kyiv has increasingly bombarded Russia in recent weeks with attacks on refineries and railways.
On Monday, Russian authorities reported a drone attack on the Volgograd station, in southern Russia. This damaged the power supply and caused a fire.
The Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure are part of an attempt to undermine the authority of the Kremlin in its own country. The Russian authorities, who are making little progress on the battlefield, are visibly struggling to deal with the attacks.
