A man wearing a Feyenoord shirt was assaulted in May on Museumplein in Amsterdam. The thirty-year-old victim suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and a fractured eye socket. The police shared images of the incident via Instagram on Wednesday.
“The incident took place on May 11 at 8:35 PM,” a spokesperson for the Amsterdam police told NU.nl. The police assume that the Feyenoord shirt was the reason for the assault.
The video shows a man walking out of a supermarket on Museumplein. He is then harassed by one of the two men hanging around on the sidewalk. The suspect first knees the victim and then throws him to the ground. He is then given a hard kick. The other suspect stands by and watches.
The incident happened two hours after Ajax had painfully lost an important league match against NEC (0-3). Feyenoord could have done Ajax a favor in the title race with PSV that same day, but the Rotterdam team wasted a 2-0 lead against Eindhoven. They lost 2-3 due to a goal in injury time.
