Busta Rhymes will receive a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The American rapper will receive the tile on Friday during a ceremony in Los Angeles.
Busta Rhymes is “one of the most iconic and exciting voices in hip hop,” writes Ana Martines, the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, on the organization’s website. “His star on the Walk of Fame is a tribute to his lasting impact on hip hop music and its importance to American culture,” she writes.
Busta Rhymes said in an interview with CBS Mornings that his patience was tested. “I’m glad they decided now is my time,” the 53-year-old rapper said. “Everything happens at the right time.”
Radio presenter Big Boy will present the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard. Rappers LL Cool J and Chuck D and comedian Chris Rock are confirmed as guest speakers. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Walk of Fame website.
Busta Rhymes broke through in the 1990s with Woo-Hah!! Got You All in Check. He later also scored hits with, among others, Turn It Up/Fire It Up, Hit ‘Em High (The Monstars’ Anthem), Gimme Some More, Break Ya Neck, I Know What You Want (with Mariah Carey) and Don’t Cha (with The Pussycat Dolls).
