Ex-driver who scoured Jandino Asporaat for 16,000 euros receives community service sentence

The former driver of Jandino Asporaat has been sentenced to eighty hours of community service for defrauding the comedian of nearly 16,000 euros. This was decided by the court in The Hague on Tuesday. The 25-year-old man has been misusing Asporaat’s fuel card for years.

The judge also imposed a two-week suspended prison sentence on the former driver. In addition, the man in question must repay Asporaat more than 9,000 euros.

According to the public prosecutor, Asporaat’s financial advisor pointed out excessive fuel costs, after which an investigation was started. The comedian discovered, among other things, that gasoline had been filled up while he himself drives a diesel car.

Asporaat also requested images from gas stations. These allegedly show that the ex-driver refueled both his own car and those of his friends with Asporaat’s fuel card between 2021 and 2023.

The suspect admitted in a sound recording that he had done this because he had allegedly not been fully paid for all the hours he worked. By refueling with Asporaat’s card, he compensated for the missed hours, according to his own statement.

Neither the suspect nor Asporaat was present at the hearing. According to the public prosecutor, the comedian hesitated for a long time to file a report because he knew his driver well. Asporaat preferred to resolve it in another way.
