The customer base of Basic-Fit continues to grow, and the fitness chain also earns more per member. Clubs that are always open are also doing well. Turnover increased in the first half of this year by a sixth to 677 million euros.
Basic-Fit had approximately 4.5 million members in the first half of 2025. That is 418,000 more than a year earlier. In France, Germany, and Spain, the chain introduced clubs that are always open, and that seems to be catching on. According to Basic-Fit, more and more clubs in the Netherlands are also open all day.
The company, based in Hoofddorp, is also earning more per member. More people took out more expensive memberships, causing revenue per member to increase from 23.80 euros to 24.73 euros. In addition to memberships, there is also fitness revenue from the sports water sold and the use of massage chairs.
In the first half of the year, a total of 53 clubs were added. As a result, Basic-Fit now has 1,628 clubs in France, Spain, Germany, and the Benelux.
Turnover increased by 16 percent to 677 million euros. There was a one-time accounting setback, but according to the company, underlying profit increased by 5 percent to 13.7 million euros.
Last year, Basic-Fit announced that it would open a franchise branch in order to continue to grow. The company also plans to work with weekly subscriptions instead of monthly ones. Basic-Fit is testing these subscriptions first in France.
