A mixing console of the American producer Dr. Dre has been auctioned for 165,000 dollars (more than 142,000 euros). According to Variety, this is the highest amount ever paid for an instrument from the hip-hop world.
The mixing console was used in the production of albums by artists such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar. In addition, Dr. Dre used the panel for his own albums such as The Chronic (1992) and 2001 (1999).
The mixing console was purchased via auction platform The Realest by entrepreneur Ryan Zurrer. He has subsequently given the studio device on loan to The Hip Hop Museum in New York.
Previously, a drum machine, used in the production of the Wu-Tang Clan album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), was the most expensive instrument sold from the hip-hop world. In 2023, it raised 69,000 dollars (more than 59,000 euros).
