Heineken sells less beer and the turnover is falling slightly to 17 billion euros

Heineken has seen a slight decrease in revenue in the first half of 2025. According to the beer brewer, the stronger euro was the main cause. The company also sold less beer in Europe and the United States.

Heineken’s revenue decreased by 5 percent to 16.9 billion euros, the company reports. Due to the stronger currency, income from abroad is worth less when converted to euros. This was mainly the case for income from Mexico, Brazil and Ethiopia.

Beer sales went well in Africa. For example, the brewer did well in Nigeria and Ethiopia. But it went less well in Brazil, the United States and parts of Europe. As a result, the amount of beer sold worldwide still decreased by 1.2 percent to 116.4 million hectoliters.

The beer market in Europe has been shrinking for some time. It became clear in the first quarter that Heineken was suffering from this. Dutch people are also increasingly leaving the beer.

In Europe, Heineken suffered from negotiations with major customers. For example, Jumbo was at odds with the company for months. But last week it was announced that the beer brewer and the supermarket chain had reached an agreement. From today, Heineken brands such as Amstel, Texels and Affligem should be available for sale again at Jumbo.
