Micheal Ward, known from the Netflix series Top Boy, is accused of rape and sexual assault. The British actor must appear in court next month, according to Sky News and others on Friday.
The 27-year-old Ward is charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The incidents allegedly occurred in January 2023 with one woman.
Ward denies the allegations. “I am fully confident that my name will be cleared,” he says. The actor must appear in court on August 28.
Ward played Jamie in the popular Netflix series Top Boy. In addition, he had roles in films such as Blue Story, The Old Guard, and Empire of Light. In 2021, the Jamaican-born actor won a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor in Small Axe and two years later for his role in Empire of Light.
Ward will soon star alongside Pedro Pascal and Joaquin Phoenix in the Hollywood film Eddington. The film will premiere next month in the United Kingdom.
