Cameras at highways around Apeldoorn due to incidents with concrete blocks

The police have placed cameras around highways near Apeldoorn. The measure was taken after several incidents this month in which motorists on the A1 and A50 collided with stones or concrete blocks.

Cameras have been placed, at least, on a viaduct over the A1 near Apeldoorn. Several vehicles collided with stones there last week. Omroep Gelderland reports that the cameras have been in place since Wednesday.

Cameras are also located at other locations, but the police will not say where. Around highways, “visible and invisible measures have been taken,” reports a police spokesperson. At least four incidents are being investigated.

Witnesses are being called upon to report. There is no concrete information that has led to a solution and no suspects have been arrested. It is unclear whether there is intent, although the police previously spoke of a “more than striking” situation.

No one was injured in the incidents. However, several vehicles were damaged.
