PSV confirms coming Spits Pléa: 'I am familiar with the trainer, Mr. Bosz'

PSV has confirmed the transfer of Alassane Pléa. The 32-year-old French striker comes from Borussia Mönchengladbach and has signed a contract in Eindhoven until the summer of 2028.

Pléa will play with number 14 at PSV. “I have been playing with that number for a very long time. It originated because I was a big fan of Thierry Henry,” says Pléa in the press release from the national champion. Previously, Ricardo Pepi wore number 14, but he recently took over number 9 from Luuk de Jong.

The attacker didn’t hesitate when PSV came his way. “When my agent called, I immediately said yes,” says Pléa. “I only know good stories about this club and I am also familiar with the trainer, Mr. Bosz. I love his philosophy and way of playing.”

Now that Luuk de Jong is doubting his future at PSV, Pléa seems to be competing with Pepi in the striker battle. In addition to the striker position, the single French international can also play on the wings.

Pléa immediately joins PSV’s training camp in Marienfeld, Germany. “I look forward to seeing my teammates and understood that we will be having a barbecue soon. A good start,” says Pléa.

Sixth summer reinforcement PSV

Pléa played for Borussia Mönchengladbach since 2018. The single international scored 68 goals and provided 53 assists in 236 matches for the German club. Previously, he played for Olympique Nice, Olympique Lyonnais and AJ Auxerre.

With Pléa, PSV has secured its sixth summer reinforcement. Earlier this week, the Eindhoven team took over French full-back Kiliann Sildillia from SC Freiburg. They previously strengthened themselves this summer with goalkeepers Nick Olij and Matej Kovár, defender Yarek Gasiorowski and attacker Ruben van Bommel.
