PSV continues and strictly with French right back Sildillia fifth summer improvement

PSV has signed Kiliann Sildillia, a new right back, on Wednesday. The 23-year-old French youth international comes from SC Freiburg, where he played for the past five years. The right-back has signed a contract in Eindhoven until the summer of 2030.

According to several media outlets, PSV paid 5.8 million euros for Sildillia, who can also play as a central defender. The Bundesliga club initially asked for 10 million euros, but realized that this was too much.

Sildillia will play with number 25 at the Philips Stadium. “For me, this is the perfect next step in my career,” he says on the PSV website. “PSV has a very rich history and I look forward to competing for prizes here.”

Sildillia went through the youth academy at FC Metz, after which he joined Freiburg in 2020. There he played 82 Bundesliga matches, in which he scored twice.

With Jong France, Sildillia won Olympic silver in Paris last year. At the European Championship under 21, he stranded with ‘Les Bleuets’ in the semi-finals. So far, Sildillia has played ten international matches for the youth team.

Stewart: ‘Sildillia is very strong defensively’

Director of football affairs Earnest Stewart is happy with the arrival of Sildillia. “Kiliann is very strong defensively and can also deal well with defending in large spaces. Moreover, he is fast, athletic, physically strong and a good header.”

Sildillia is the fifth summer addition for PSV. Earlier, the Eindhoven team strengthened themselves with goalkeepers Nick Olij and Matej Kovar, defender Yarek Gasiorowski and attacker Ruben van Bommel. Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Alassane Pléa will probably be the sixth reinforcement.

PSV is currently preparing for the new season in Marienfeld, Germany. Coach Peter Bosz’s team will play against cup winner Go Ahead Eagles on August 3 in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Shield.
