No trains between Rotterdam and Schiphol, The Hague and Utrecht due to malfunction

Due to a system failure, no trains are running between Rotterdam and The Hague, Leiden, and Utrecht on Wednesday morning. Train traffic is also at a standstill on the high-speed line between Rotterdam and Schiphol. The problems are expected to be resolved by 9:30 AM.

The disruption is causing more problems on the railways around Rotterdam. For example, fewer Intercity direct trains are running between Rotterdam and Breda. There is also less train traffic towards Dordrecht. According to NS, the extra travel time is approximately fifteen minutes.

According to ProRail, the issue is a fault in the train protection system. It was previously expected that the disruption would be resolved around 8:45 AM. That time has now been adjusted to 9:30 AM.

Once the problems have been resolved, it may take a while before trains run according to the timetable again. Train traffic will then have to be restarted completely.

Furthermore, no trains are running between Roosendaal and Vlissingen on Wednesday morning due to copper theft. Train traffic will resume there from 3:15 PM, reports NS.
