Het UAE Team Emirates van Tadej Pogacar leidt het geldklassement op de eerste rustdag van de Tour de France. De ploeg heeft na de eerste tien dagen koers als enige formatie meer dan 50.000 euro bij elkaar gefietst.
UAE staat op 50.710 Zwitserse frank (zo’n 54.500 euro) aan prijzengeld, wat voor een groot deel is te danken aan Pogacar. De Sloveense kopman won al twee ritten, droeg vier dagen de gele leiderstrui en eindigde één keer als tweede.
De Tour-organisatie keert in totaal 2,3 miljoen euro aan prestatiebonussen uit aan de deelnemende teams. Voor het team van de eindwinnaar ligt 500.000 euro klaar. De ploeg van de ritwinnaar ontvangt 11.000 euro. Ook bij tussensprints en doorkomsten bergop is geld te verdienen.
Het is aan de teams zelf om te bepalen of het bedrag naar de betreffende renners gaat of wordt verdeeld over de hele ploeg. In het verleden gebeurde het vaak dat de teams het verdiende prijzengeld onder de renners én het personeel verdeelden.
Achter UAE bezet het Alpecin-Deceuninck van Mathieu van der Poel een knappe tweede plaats. De Belgische formatie staat op ruim 45.000 euro. Dat is niet alleen te danken aan de ritzege van Van der Poel, maar ook aan de dagwinst van de inmiddels afgestapte Jasper Philipsen in de openingsetappe.
Het Nederlandse Visma-Lease a Bike moet het in het geldklassement doen met een derde plaats. Die heeft de ploeg vooral te danken aan de etappezege van maandag van Simon Yates. Kopman Jonas Vingegaard eindigde drie keer in de top drie van een rit, maar won tot dusver nog niet.
Soudal Quick-Step won met kopman Remco Evenepoel en sprinter Tim Merlier al drie van de tien etappes in deze 112e editie van de Tour de France. Toch is de Belgische formatie pas op de vijfde plaats in het geldklassement terug te vinden.
Het Belgische Lotto draagt met bijna 5.100 euro de rode lantaarn in datzelfde klassement. Ook Astana, Cofidis en Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe zijn onderaan de ranglijst te vinden. Het Nederlandse Team Picnic PostNL staat 11e op de lijst met 23 ploegen.
Die ploegen hebben nog elf etappes om daar verandering in te brengen. De Tour gaat woensdag verder met een heuvelrit van en naar Toulouse. De Ier Ben Healy begint als leider in het algemeen klassement aan de hervatting.
Tadej Pogacar’s UAE Team Emirates leads the prize money ranking on the first rest day of the Tour de France. After the first ten days of racing, the team is the only one to have cycled together more than 50,000 euros.
UAE has 50,710 Swiss francs (around 54,500 euros) in prize money, which is largely thanks to Pogacar. The Slovenian leader has already won two stages, wore the yellow leader’s jersey for four days and finished second once.
