The fifth season of the Netflix series Emily in Paris will be partly filmed in Venice. This was announced by the governor of the Veneto region on Monday.
“This is fantastic news, which confirms that our region is becoming increasingly attractive for global audiovisual productions,” said Governor Luca Zaia in a statement. “It makes me proud to see how Venetian talents promote their region and bring Venice to millions of households around the world.”
Filming in Venice will take place between August 5 and 15. According to the governor, director Andrew Fleming is currently looking for locations to film.
In May, filming began for the fifth season of Emily in Paris in the Italian capital Rome, where the fourth season ended. In June, filming took place in the French capital Paris, where the series originally began.
Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he would “do everything” to keep the popular Netflix series in the French capital. “We are going to fight hard for it. And we are going to ask them to stay in Paris,” Macron said about the series, in which his wife Brigitte also briefly appears.
Emily in Paris is about the American Emily (Lily Collins) who moves to Paris to work at a French marketing agency. In addition to romance and drama, the series is known for its haute couture.
