Koeman sees Orange after loss in Nations League place sinking on the world ranking

The Dutch national team has dropped one place in the FIFA world rankings. Despite the World Cup qualifying victories, Ronald Koeman’s team drops from sixth to seventh place. Nations League winner Portugal passes Orange.

The Portuguese won the Nations League in June. In the final, Portugal was too strong for European champion Spain in a penalty shootout. Orange was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the country tournament by the Spaniards and therefore drops one place in the world rankings.

The Netherlands did win the qualifying matches for the 2026 World Cup against Finland (0-2) and Malta (8-0) in June. But on paper those are less big opponents than Portugal.

Croatia is the new number ten on the FIFA ranking. The Croats were in eleventh place in April. That place is now occupied by Italy, which dropped one place. Germany rises one place to number nine.

Furthermore, there are no changes in the global top ten. World champion Argentina remains leader, while Spain still occupies second place. France is number three and England occupies fourth place. Brazil completes the top five.
