Novak Djokovic is concerned about his body after his nasty fall on the Wimbledon grass. On match point, the Serbian top tennis player fell badly, after which he expressed his concerns at the press conference. Despite his slip, he did win against the Italian Flavio Cobolli.
When Djokovic wanted to hit a winner at 5-4 on match point, he slipped on the grass. The 24-time Grand Slam winner slid into a split, immediately grabbed his groin, and lay on center court for a moment. Limping, he finished the match and won the two consecutive points and the match.
“It was a nasty fall,” Djokovic said immediately after the match. “I need to see with my team and physical therapist what’s going on. Hopefully, I’ll be fit enough to play the semi-final in two days.”
At the press conference that followed, the seven-time Wimbledon winner elaborated on his physical condition. “This happens on grass. I’ve experienced quite a few such situations in my career,” Djokovic said. “But my body is not the same as before. There is some concern.”
“We will see how it goes in the next 24 to 48 hours. Only then will I know the impact of that fall,” continued the world number six. In the semi-finals, the 38-year-old Djokovic will face the world number one, Jannik Sinner, on Friday.
The 23-year-old Italian was too strong for the American Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals. Sinner injured his elbow earlier this week and wore an arm bandage on Wednesday. “The pain is getting better. I played against Shelton with painkillers. That helped. I’m going for it 100 percent on Friday.”
