Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will learn his sentence on Friday, October 3. A judge ruled this on Tuesday. Last week, a jury found the music mogul guilty of transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution.
October 3 was already mentioned as a possible date for the verdict, but Diddy’s lawyers had requested an earlier date. Ultimately, the defense and the prosecutor agreed on October 3.
Prosecutors described Diddy as the leader of a criminal organization. According to them, the rapper got away with the abuse of his partners and employees for years thanks to his money, power, and influence.
But the jury ruled last week that Diddy is not guilty of leading a criminal organization. He was also found not guilty of human trafficking and extortion.
According to the jury, Diddy is guilty of transporting his two ex-girlfriends with the aim of using them for prostitution. This concerns Cassie Ventura and the woman who testified under the pseudonym Jane.
Diddy must fear a long prison sentence
The musician still faces a long prison sentence. Prosecutors want him to receive the maximum sentence of twenty years. It is likely that the sentence will be lower.
His lawyers asked last week after the conviction to release him early. Diddy has been in custody since his arrest in September. The judge ruled that he will remain in custody at least until the day of the verdict.
